Upcoming Concerts in Melbourne

Be Entertained in Melbourne

There are hundreds of reasons that people visit Melbourne, but one of the most common we hear at Holiday Inn Melbourne on Flinders reception is events and entertainment.

When it comes to entertainment, our amazing city is a treasure trove of exciting times. From concerts to musicals to theatre and beyond, Melbourne certainly has it.

Because Melbourne is never short of amazing live shows, if we’re not welcoming visitors on weekend short stays just to see a show, we’re directing them there.

So, here are a few of our favourite upcoming concerts.

Ed Sheeran

The English singer-songwriter has taken the World by storm with his relentless string of hits and Number 1 selling albums ‘+’ and ‘x’. Some of our Ed Sheeran favourites includes hits like: ‘Thinking Out Loud’, Sing, ‘The A Team’, ‘Don’t’, ‘Give Me Love’, ‘Lego House’, ‘Drunk’ and ‘Bloodstream’.

After a sold out arena tour in April, Ed loves Australia so much he’s coming back at the end of the year to play at AAMI Park in Melbourne on December 5.

Sheeran said: “I ’ve never been to Australia in December, I’m looking forward to seeing what’s happening, and getting a bit of sun.”

In another first, no artist has ever played Australian stadiums without a band! With the aid of technology, Sheeran will use a loop pedal to turn himself into a one-man-band.

We think this is a concert not to be missed.

Taylor Swift

This December, the country music turned pop sensation will party like it’s 1989 on her fourth Australian Tour.

Celebrating the release of her chart-topping album, ‘1989’, the fastest selling album for 2014, Taylor Swift will play at Melbourne’s AAMI Park on December 11.

And if that’s not exciting enough, there’s more. The tour coincides with Swift’s 26th birthday AND Vance Joy is the opening act for Swift’s Australian Tour. We can hear the screams of overwhelmed fans already!

Swift will entertain us with hits like, ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ and ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’. Frankly, we can’t wait.

Elton John

Before winding down his live commitments to spend more time with his sons, Zachary, 4 and two-year-old Elijah, Sir Elton John is set to tour Australia in December with his final show ever at Sydney’s Qantas Credit Union Arena – the venue where he holds the record for the most gigs. It’ll be the last show before the building is sadly demolished. But before you fly off to Sydney for this historical extravaganza, Sir Elton’s concert in Melbourne will not disappoint either, playing at Rod Laver Arena on December 11.

We think this is an event not to be missed. The amazing Sir John Elton has entertained generations throughout a career spanning decades. Since his first Australian tour in 1971, the artist has played 179 concerts to more than 1.5 million fans.

John said: “Australia has been one of my favourite countries to tour, ever since my first visit there, kicking off my worldwide career in 1971.”

Frankly, we cant wait to hear Sir Elton belt out some of our all-time favourites. There’s just too many to list.

ACDC

In their biggest Australian tour ever, legendary Aussie rock band AC/DC is set to play across the country for the last time before they retire.

When tickets went on sale for their  ‘Rock Or Bust’ stadium show, more than 300,000 tickets were snapped up within hours. More dates were added to their Sydney and Melbourne touring calendars within an hour of the box office opening and sold out within minutes.

For one last time, lucky fans will be head banging to AC/DC live at Marvel Stadium on December 6 and 8. Being just a stones throw to the venue, we think we might even hear the songs from here at Holiday Inn Melbourne on Flinders! Just kidding, but we still might have a pair of those flashing red devils horns lying around from last time they toured.

We can’t wait fan favourites ‘Back In Black’, ‘Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap’, ‘Hells Bells’, ‘Thunderstruck, ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’ and ‘Highway To Hell’.
