Melbourne Marathon

The Melbourne Marathon has been held every year since 1978 and has been named Australia’s largest marathon. The festival attracts both local and internationals alike.

This year’s Melbourne Marathon will be held on Sunday 13 October 2019. In its 42nd year more than 34,000 are estimated to register for the run and all attendees will have the opportunity to finish their race at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The most attractive feature for Melbourne Marathon attendees is the fact that the course is flat and there are no hills. Although the course is a competitive and adrenalin filled race, it is made easier for those wanting to achieve personal best times. The course is perfect for first timers and experienced runners alike.

For both locals and internationals, the views and attractions seen during the Melbourne Marathon are Melbourne icons.

The first attraction that runners will see is the iconic Flinders Street Station. Followed by the Albert Park Lake, home of the Grand Prix and then into the picturesque St Kilda. In St Kilda runners will see Luna Park close-up followed by a run on the breathtaking beach road. On the run back runners will run through the iconic Tan Track by the War Memorial followed by Federation Square and finally into the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The crowds at the MCG will be there to cheer you on and congratulate you on a great run.

Whether you are completing the 3km walk with friends and family or taking on your first 42.4km marathon, there is an option for everyone.

Registrations are now open for the Melbourne Marathon and admission fees start from $31.00 for adults and $15.00 for children.
