Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival

With the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival being only a few months away, it’s time to start planning. Spring is the time for Melbourne’s stunning gardens to awake from their slumber and for fashionistas to plan their outfits. It’s also time to plan your schedule for the action packed racing carnival.

No international city can claim to have a public holiday dedicated to a sporting event. Melbourne has two public holidays dedicated to sporting events; the AFL Grand Final and the Melbourne Cup. That’s just an indication of how serious the City of Melbourne takes its sport.

The Spring Racing Carnival started in 1861 with the race that stops the nation: The Melbourne Cup. The Melbourne Cup today is the richest two-mile handicap in the world. It attracts well over 100,000 punters, local and international celebrities and racing enthusiasts from around the world.

In 2019 be part of Australia’s most iconic and loved event. It’s a bucket list event to attend as it combines sport, fashion, entertainment and food all in one place. The glamorous and full of history Flemington Racecourse sets the scene for all visitors. It’s a must-do for Melbournians, interstate and international visitors alike.
