Federation Square

Federation Square

Federation Square is the focal point of the Melbourne CBD with its world-renowned architecture and incredible location right on the Yarra River, opposite Flinders St Station and within view of Southgate and the Arts Centre.

Visited by an estimated eight million people each year, Federation Square is one of Melbourne’s top tourist destinations. Home to National Gallery of Victoria’s Ian Potter Centre as well as a number of bars, restaurants and cafes, the square also regularly attracts record crowds throughout the year as locals and tourists gather to watch entertainment and live broadcasts of major cultural events on the public screen.

Since opening in 2002, Federation Square has established itself as the unofficial heart of Melbourne’s inner hub and is recognised as a premiere example of modern architecture and urban design.
