THE LUME Melbourne

Discover THE LUME Melbourne

Melbourne’s art scene is soon to be re-ignited with the launch of THE LUME Melbourne in Autumn 2021 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). This permanent exhibition heralds a new era for the arts and culture experiences in Australia.

THE LUME Melbourne promises to be an expansive cultural icon delivering awe-inspiring adventures into art. Guests will be transported into the world of the artist, where they will be brought to life with 11-metre high, immersive digital projections, with stunning musical soundscapes, evocative aromas and a matching food and beverage experience which can be enjoyed inside the gallery.

The permanent home of THE LUME Melbourne is at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. It is the perfect fit for Australia’s digital art gallery. MCEC offers soaring heights and broad, interior vistas and is the perfect canvas for this incredible cultural experience.  Nestled in the heart of Melbourne in the bustling South Wharf district (close to South Wharf DFO), MCEC provides easy access for all as well as great transport links to the city.

Visitors of THE LUME Melbourne can be assured that they are safe through MCEC’s industry leading VenueSafe (COVID-safe) plan that they have in place. This includes temperature checks and social distancing measures.

What will be the first exhibition at THE LUME Melbourne?

Opening in Autumn 2021 will be the vibrant works of Vincent Van Gogh. Although his works have been displayed around the world – they have never been experienced like this. No longer will people have to walk around the gallery silently. This experience at THE LUME will transport guests with a powerful and vibrant symphony of colour, sound, light and aromas.

Guests will accompany Van Gogh on a multi-sensory journey through Paris, Arles, Saint Remy, the Netherlands and Auvers-sur-Oise where he created each of his timeless masterpieces. Visitors will be able to experience Van Gogh’s thoughts, feelings and state of mind as his works come to live in vivid detail.

Sessions will be held at THE LUME Melbourne during the day and night – meaning it is the perfect event to attend with friends or family.
