Run for the Kids

Join Run for the Kids community led event in 2021. The primary aim for Run for the Kids event is to raise as much funds as possible for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. The Royal Children Hospital provides leadership services in healthcare, education and research to improve the wellbeing of all children and adolescents. 2020 marks its 15th anniversary of Run for the Kids; therefore let’s make it a special celebration with your family and the Melbourne community.

Run for the Kids event is for everyone of all ages and fitness levels. You have the option to choose the long course or short course.

There’s no competition, it’s all about having fun, supporting the community and raising funds for Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal !


Course options for the Run for the Kids

Long Course – 15km
The long course has been revised to 15km, in celebration of Run for the Kids 15th anniversary. The start line is located in Harbour Esplanade near the corner of La Trobe Street. All participants are encouraged to arrive at the event 45 minutes before the event start time. The course will be running through the Domain Tunnel and finish within the Docklands Park.
There are 6 different zones; Pre Qualified Runner Zone, Blue Zone, Yellow Zone, Pram Running Yellow Zone, Orange Zone and Red Zone suited for different types of participants. Pick a zone best suited to you!


Woodlea Short Course – 5.2km
The Woolea Short course provides the best views while you walk and/or run, with the finish point located in Docklands Park Precinct with perfect gardens to sit and relax after completing the course! Woodlea Short course Starts at Harbour Esplanade near the corner of La Trove Street located right outside our hotel Holiday Inn Melbourne on Flinders. Work your way through to New Quay and over the Bolte Bridge southbound, then enter Docklands via Charles Grime Bridge and finish at the Docklands Park Precinct.
There are 3 zones to support your individual fitness capabilities; Green Zone, Purple Zone and White Zone.

For 2020, the Run for the Kids event hopes to reach $20 million in total fundraising, aiming to beat its previous 2019 record of $18 million. Come and participate in the Run for the Kids campaign and make an impactful mark on the Melbourne community today.
